Gun Laws

Safe Guns in Safe Places for Safe Families

We come to you.

Do not attempt to handle a firearm that you are not familiar with. Many household guns we come across are loaded and dangerous. We come to you, unload all firearms, and legally transfer them out of your family’s name.

Colorado has increased its gun laws over the years.

New Colorado gun laws come out every year.  It’s hard for everyday citizens to stay up to date on them all. The laws pertaining to buying and selling inherited guns and ammo can save lives but can also put you on the wrong side of the law if you don’t know them. Most people will break 2 to 3 gun laws driving Grandpa’s old hunting rifle or shot gun down to the neighborhood gun store wanting to turn it in.

 Transporting firearms?

If you are legally allowed to possess a firearm, you may transport loaded handguns and revolvers in your car.  All other weapons such as rifles and shot guns must be completely unloaded.  Vail, Boulder and Denver counties have laws banning all assault rifles.   CGS can legally pick up and transport these weapons from your home.

Who is prohibited from owning a gun in Colorado?

You cannot possess a firearm in Colorado if you are:  A felon, subject of a restraining order, user or addicted to any controlled substance, illegal immigrant, dishonorably discharged from the armed services, or have been convicted of domestic violence.

What are the consequences of unlawful gun possession?

-Up to 6 years in prison and a fine up to $500,000.   It’s best to call CGS to remove a firearm from your possession as quickly as possible.

What guns are illegal in Colorado?

It is illegal to possess Armor-piercing ammunition, silencers, machine or fully automatic guns, short shot guns, (Having a barrel less than eighteen inches long or an overall length of less than twenty-six inches), short rifles, (Having a barrel less than sixteen inches long or an overall length of less than twenty-six inches)

What Our Clients Are Saying

"Last year my brother was diagnosed with terminal stage four colon cancer and dementia. Lee Heigl was recommended to my family by our estate attorney to help us liquidate my brother’s significant gun collection to help pay for hospital bills and round the clock live-in nursing care. The funds we received from the sale helped the family bridge the gap before VA benefits became available. Lee made the process simple gave us fair value and helped us through a difficult time. I would recommend Lee to anyone facing a similar situation."

We will be using Lee again if we find ourselves in similar circumstances. Thanks Lee!”
